Arun Kapil of Green Saffron Cooking up a Colourful Feast at the Duck Restaurant

Green Saffron, the multi-award-winning purveyors of the finest spices, rice, sauces and spice blends, based in Cork, are putting colour into the darkest months of the year with a pop-up tasting evening, masterclasses and a wealth of tips, delicious recipes and cookery demos by founder Arun Kapil.

During the next few months, when the bright lights of Christmas and New Year have been put away and the world feels at its most drab and dreary, Green Saffron and its founder Arun Kapil, the Anglo-Indian chef, food entrepreneur and spice expert, focus on warming, colourful, comforting food, perfectly designed to boost mood and taste great.

In the run up to the Hindu festival of Holi, falling on March 1st in 2018, this joyously colourful occasion heralding the arrival of spring and end of winter, sees Arun and Green Saffron concentrate their energies on shining brightly with recipes and dishes jam-packed with bold, warming, vivid flavours and colours.

With tips, videos and recipes on the Green Saffron social media channels, in particular their Facebook page, throughout January and February, keep an eager eye out for deliciously easy recipes full of punchy tastes like Moroccan charred cauliflower salad, rocket, pomegranate, pine nuts and torn soft herbs or Calcutta ‘crisp & spicy’ sea bass with Hispi cabbage and whipped curd.

Also featuring will be purple aubergine, tomato & fenugreek curry with cucumber raita and roti, a gammon mixed grill with chicory, glazed mango and clementine crème fraîche, and devilled hen eggs with chilli, chickpea & chia, charred sweet potato and green relish, and many more – all sensationally tasty and rammed full of colour, this is food designed to bring a vibrant ray of sunshine into any bleak midwinter day.

Along with putting colour into the darkest months of the year on the plate, Arun will also be hosting a series of pop-ups and master classes in various locations around the country, spreading his infectious enthusiasm and love for all things spice, imparting some of his expertise in cooking demos and tasting evenings, including a tasting evening at Marlfield House on Thursday 8th February and a 3-hour master class in the Kilkenny School of Food in Thomastown on Saturday February 10th.

And if you can’t wait to get your hands on the gorgeously zingy and delectable new recipes, Green Saffron spice blends and jars can help to whip up a deeply comforting meal in a hurry too, available nationwide. Check out Green Saffron on Facebook for live demos, recipes and tips throughout January & February
