COVID-19 Stay and Spend Approved

WHAT IS THE NEW STAY AND SPEND SCHEME AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

The new Stay and Spend scheme allows you to claim tax back on accommodation, food and non-alcoholic drink (known as qualifying expenditure) bought between 1 October 2020 and 30 April 2021. We are a participating business and we are listed on the Revenue’s list of ‘Qualifying Service Providers’. This means, that when you book your break with us, you are entitled to claim expenses for your stay.

Under the terms of the incentive:
  • You must spend a minimum of €25 in a single transaction on qualifying expenditure and submit the receipt to Revenue (we will provide you with receipts throughout your stay that you can keep for this).
  • You can submit receipts up to a total of €625, or €1,250 for a jointly-assessed married couple
  • Revenue will provide an income tax credit of up to €125 per person, or up to €250 for a jointly-assessed married couple
You can claim expenses on:
  • Fáilte Ireland registered accommodation – which means that your stay in our hotel qualifies for this scheme when you book directly with us on this website.
  • Food and non-alcoholic drink – served in a café, restaurant, hotel – – which means that your food and non-alcoholic beverage purchased in our hotel qualifies for this scheme.

You cannot claim expenses on takeaway food, alcoholic drinks, drinks (either alcoholic or non-alcoholic) served without food or amounts below €25, so you can add everything to your room bill and we can give you a receipt at the end of your stay, or you can pay per transaction and keep your individual receipts.

We have signed up to the Covid-19 Safety Charter, a Government-endorsed programme, confirming that we and all our employees are agreeing to follow the recommended guidelines for our sector that are issued by Fáilte Ireland.

We are delighted to be re-opening to welcome guests again on the 8th of July in the hotel and 1st July at The Duck Restaurant. Our commitment to caring for our guests has always been the centre of our ethos, but this has now taken on a new meaning. It means taking responsible actions to stop the spread of COVID-19 while also continuing to offer our guests the highest standards of service, cuisine and comfort and providing a safe workplace for our team of staff.

Our commitment is to adhere to the strictest advice and protocol from the WHO and both national and international authorities. Central to the Irish Government’s strategy for delaying and reducing the spread of this virus, our team will be practicing ‘social distancing’ between themselves and our guests and we will undertake steps to minimise interactions between guests also. Our staff are being re-trained to the highest stringent standards of hygiene necessary and required by the government. We will also ensure that any changes and official guidance on the management of the COVID-19 public health risk are updated to our team on a daily basis.

We will be limiting unnecessary interactions while maintaining the highest levels of service that our guests have come to expect and love. Changes including requests for non-essential room amenities, in-room check-in, hygiene stations in bedrooms, express check-out, restricted room service and many more features will be put in place.

We will endeavour to ensure that staying in Marlfield will remain the same homely and charming experience we hope it has always been. Ultimately it will remain as it always has been as we will still have the same charming team looking after our guests, the same smiling faces and the same attention to detail and personal care for which we have gained a reputation over the last 42 years.
